Dear Traders, On Friday, June 25 the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has announced that the following 4 countries – Haiti, Malta, Philippines and South Sudan will be included into its list of increased monitoring countries or grey list. Once a country is grey listed, it is given an action plan which it must adhere to within a specific timeframe. A review will be undertaken and if the country is able to satisfy that action plans have been taken to address and remedy any inadequacies, then FATF may decide to re-install the country back into the normal list. Accordingly, Upbit has taken steps to prohibit new user applications from those same four countries and will only reconsider new user applications once FATF has re-installed the countries back into the normal list. For existing Users from those four countries, who had previously satisfied Upbit’s KYC and onboarding process, prior to the country being placed in the grey list, Upbit will review all such Users and apply additional due diligence and monitoring, where necessary. Following the review, Upbit may decide to place limits on the amounts or types of transactional activities which the User may conduct or in some cases, Upbit may decide to terminate such accounts.
